Teamtbb pro athlete, Andrej Vistica, took on one of the worlds toughest triathlons this weekend, the Embrunman.
Having just recovered from Challenge Roth, Andrej felt ready, though knowing this would be a gruelling race with its steep 3600m bike ascent and a 400m ascent on the 42.2km run, he came in 4th overall with a time of 10hrs and 23mins. He had a great swim and rode hard, coming off the bike in 8th place. Running conservatively he was able to move up the field finishing 4th overall.
Coming in 4th place delivered Andrej his biggest pro cheque to date, he received a cheque of close to EUR 9,000 which will help him secure his season as a professional athlete. It is becoming tougher to survive as an athlete with all the changes taking place within WTC and even tougher for 90% of the pro's trying to survive in this sport.
Andrej had this to say
I knew this would be a hard day but I still didn't expect it to be this hard. Not only is the Embrunman hilly but it was also cold and windy with a headwind for the last 60km on the bike. I am very happy with my result and at the same time very tired.
Congratulations Andrej on a great result and Embrunman Triathlon for supporting the athletes!
